Moxa Season

MOXIBUSTION

The therapeutic application of Moxibustion dates back to the origins of  Acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Artemesia or Mugwort is a herb that is  dried and has a number of applications. In clinic the loose moxa is applied directly, or it can be applied indirectly with a compressed cigar shaped stick, which can be done at home.

EFFECT

The essential oils from the Mugwort produce a warming, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal effect. It is used to warm and build energy, boost circulation, support the immune system and increase longevity.  Moxa is applied during acupuncture treatment, as a standalone treatment, for longevity and during Moxa Season.

MOXA SEASON

Moxa season happens during the seasonal transitions during the year. In particular it is recommended for a couple of weeks during the transition from Autumn to Winter and from Winter to Spring as these are times when our energy and immune systems are more challenged.  It is advised at the onset of a cold, it is beneficial after long periods of stress, illness, after giving birth, chemotherapy or any illness which depletes the energy.
