What is STOP.SIT.STILL TM Meditation Training?

STOP.SIT.STILL TM Meditation Training was created by Mary Lally of 5 Elements, began as a way to simplify her meditation practice. In meditation classes you will hear the term “Beginners Mind” and “Monkey Mind”. With one it’s like looking at the world with fresh eyes and the other is describing a very busy mind. Neither of these descriptions worked for Mary. While she understood the terms at an intellectual level, she had to think hard about them, which became yet another distraction and took her further out of her body.

Mary describes the thoughts in her busy mind, like a load of adorable puppies. The puppies (thoughts) are busy, hungry, awake, creative, destructive, playful and active, all at the same time. And there is an element of pack mentality, pack leader, with certain dominant and repetitive thought patterns.

For Mary, visualising puppies brings her into her heart space, even while her mind is at its busiest. She realised that like puppies, her mind too needs training. Regular, consistent training with treats and rewards. She created this programme for anyone who has a busy ‘puppy’ mind and wants to begin or improve their meditation practice.

What is Mary’s experience and qualifications?

Mary began meditating in the 90’s, with more in-depth explorations while training in Classical Five-Element Acupuncture, Wu Style Tai Qi Teacher Training and Taoist Qi Gong. Mary has expereince of and training in number of Mindfulness and Meditation traditions. Recently she gained certification as a Chopra Primordial Sound Meditation teacher.
