WHO verifies ACUPUNCTURE

“I am convinced that acupuncture is going to be one of  the greatest contributions that any group of people has made to the future of all medicine, if it is handled correctly by the people of the Western world.

– Dr W Kenneth Riland, Personal Physical to Robert Nixon, 1972

In 1971 a New York Times reporter became ill with appendicitis during President Nixon’s visit to China. The reporter had surgery, with the Chinese Medicine doctors using acupuncture instead of anaesthesia. And continued to use Acupuncture for post-operative pain relief and recovery.

In 2003, the World Health Organization (WHO) listed a number of conditions (see list below) in which they say acupuncture has been proven effective.

In my experience, 5 Element Acupuncture has many benefits, for pain, fertility, injury, immune system, but in particular for those who are stressed, the weary souls who are a bit broken or worn down by life.

WHO conditions list includes:

  • high and low blood pressure

  • chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting

  • some gastric conditions, including peptic ulcer

  • painful periods

  • dysentery

  • allergic rhinitis

  • facial pain

  • morning sickness

  • rheumatoid arthritis

  • sprains

  • tennis elbow

  • sciatica

  • dental pain

  • reducing the risk of stroke

  • inducing labor

Other conditions for which the WHO say that acupuncture may help but more evidence is needed include:

  • fibromyalgia

  • tobacco and alcohol dependence

  • spine pain

  • stiff neck

  • vascular dementia

  • whooping cough, or pertussis

  • Tourette syndrome

The WHO also suggest that it may help treat a number of infections, including some urinary tract infections and epidemic hemorrhagic fever.
